Today’s announcement by Applied Intuition and Isuzu Motors is a move toward advancing the trucking industry. It paves the way for a more sustainable and efficient future in commercial transportation and will address challenges that Japan’s trucking industry grapples with, such as critical driver shortages.

Applied Intuition’s goal is to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) bring innovative products and solutions to market. Combining our expertise in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) systems with Isuzu’s manufacturing strength, the five-year collaboration will enable Isuzu to develop autonomous trucking solutions.

Applied Intuition’s Approach

Applied Intuition delivers an AI-powered ADAS and AD toolchain, vehicle platform, and autonomy stack with off-road and trucking capabilities to safely develop, validate, and bring to market next-generation vehicles.

Empowering OEMs

Applied Intuition supports 18 of the top 20 global automotive OEMs as well as the top global truck OEMs. Our engineers solve technically complex problems and work directly with customers to integrate state-of-the-art technologies in production vehicles. For example, our partnership with Porsche enables them to develop vehicle software that powers unique consumer experiences.

“Applied Intuition is in the business of enabling our OEM customers to deploy next-generation technology in their vehicles. In this case, we’re advancing commercial trucking autonomy with Isuzu,” said Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “What’s different about Applied Intuition versus other companies in our ecosystem is we don’t succeed if our customers don't succeed. Because of that, we look forward to helping one of the largest truck OEMs in the world simultaneously address needs in commercial trucking and develop in-house capabilities."

Building on our product expertise and expanding on our customer solutions

Extending our deep expertise in tooling, vehicle platform, and off-road autonomy, this partnership with Isuzu represents a natural extension for Applied Intuition into the trucking autonomy space.

  • ADAS and AD development tools: We began with advanced simulation and data tools over 7 years ago. These tools are crucial to ensure ADAS and AD systems meet rigorous safety standards before deploying them on the road. We’ve continued to invest heavily in enhancing this portfolio of tools and are using emerging generative AI technologies to further improve them.
  • Vehicle software platform: Our comprehensive vehicle software platform is built on our tooling expertise. It enables automakers to develop, deploy, and manage software and AI applications across all vehicle domains (not just ADAS and AD), significantly enhancing the automotive development cycle and enriching consumer experiences.
  • Autonomy stack: Our autonomy stack is built on top of our vehicle software platform, using the ADAS and AD development platform for robust development and validation approaches. Our acquisition of Embark Technology and our experience in autonomy have allowed us to tackle large production programs across various industries, including trucking, mining, construction, and defense.

Purpose-built team solving complex technical problems

The Applied Intuition team brings together technical experts from autonomy, AI, embedded software, automotive, trucking, and more. Our team members have taken programs all the way to production, beyond the R&D phase. Strategic acquisitions have broadened our capabilities and added diverse talent to our team. These highly skilled engineering teams enable us to tackle the most challenging technical problems through a continuous, steady and robust production program and deliver exceptional products to our customers.
